Sapphire padparadschac gemstone
Orange-pink sapphires are known as padparadscha. In Sinhala this name is interpreted as “lotus flower”. These stones belong to the most rare category among sapphires. On the international market they are also called - "king sapphire" (king of sapphires). Padparadscha variety is the most expensive compared to other fantasy sapphires.
Padparadscha sapphires blend perfectly orange and pink in different proportions. The overall color scheme is compared with shades of a blooming lotus against the setting sun.
To date, gemologists and jewelers have not come to a common opinion on the distinction between pinkish, orange sapphires and padparadscha. In view of this, similar sapphires can be referred to in different ways in the expert opinions of various laboratories.
